Background of the Study:
The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in local government administration has revolutionized service delivery, transparency, and efficiency. In Ibiono Ibom, the adoption of ICT solutions has streamlined administrative processes, improved citizen engagement, and enhanced data management (Etim, 2023). The use of digital platforms facilitates quicker decision-making and reduces bureaucratic delays, while also promoting accountability through electronic records (Obong, 2024). Nevertheless, challenges such as limited technical expertise, inadequate infrastructure, and resistance to change persist, hampering the full potential of ICT interventions (Inyang, 2025). Recent research indicates that strategic investments in ICT can significantly transform local governance, leading to improved public service delivery and greater community participation (Akpan, 2023). This study examines the role of ICT in modernizing local government administration in Ibiono Ibom and assesses its impact on administrative efficiency and service delivery.
Statement of the Problem:
Despite the potential of ICT to enhance local government operations in Ibiono Ibom, challenges such as infrastructural deficiencies and low digital literacy hinder its effective implementation. This study investigates these barriers and their effects on service delivery and administrative efficiency (Nsikak, 2024).
Objectives of the Study:
To evaluate the integration of ICT in local government processes.
To identify challenges in ICT implementation.
To propose strategies for enhancing ICT adoption in administration.
Research Questions:
How has ICT transformed local government administration?
What are the main challenges in implementing ICT solutions?
What measures can improve ICT adoption and efficiency?
Research Hypotheses:
ICT integration significantly improves administrative efficiency.
Inadequate infrastructure limits effective ICT implementation.
Capacity building enhances ICT utilization in local governance.
Significance of the Study:
This study is significant as it highlights the transformative potential of ICT in local governance. Its findings will provide recommendations for overcoming implementation challenges and optimizing ICT systems to improve service delivery and accountability in Ibiono Ibom (Obi, 2023).
